The second-hand marketplace Members Voice Frustration Over Sizing Modifications
Vinted users have been reacting angrily due to a modification that led to items being listed as the wrong size.
The second-hand shopping app has altered its size classifications for women's and children's clothes without notifying all users about the change.
Social Media Backlash
Numerous buyers and vendors are posting online stating that platform listings now display a modified sizing category versus the original listing as a result of the reclassification.
Vinted explained the new system was more in line with other platforms.
It has advised users to review their products and manually change the size where appropriate, resulting in member annoyance.
Sizing System Changes
Before the change, the sizing featured a single numeric size and a letter, for instance S/8 or M/10.
The updated approach includes a letter with a size spectrum for example S/UK 8-10.
In some cases, the sizing has been recategorised - like an L measurement used to be a 12 but currently displays as UK 16-18.
Shopper Accounts
A fashion influencer, who makes TikTok content about plus-size fashion, said the change "makes both selling and buying harder".
"Rarely do manufacturers list XL as sizes 20-22," which is what Vinted now does.
A different member, located in Scotland, said garments she listed featuring size 14 markings were showing in the marketplace as size 20–22.
"Should someone sized 20-22 purchase these they will likely be quite upset," she stated.
Required Changes
Charlotte Lunn, from Derby, explained she became annoyed because the modification necessitated personal updates the measurements for "each individual item".
"Personally, this is quite irritating, as I'm chronically ill and Vinted sales have been crucial following partial earnings loss," she explained.
Marketplace Information
The service features exceeding 100 million members, including 18 million in the UK.
It has emerged as a preferred choice to second-hand platforms like eBay and Depop.
This is not the initial instance where an unanticipated change to the app has proved unpopular: previously, the service retracted a modification concerning shipment methods after backlash from users.
