The star has handed over the entirety of his twenty-five thousand pound honor winnings to the trust for venues, which works to preserve the Britain's grassroots concert spaces.

Fender was awarded the cheque on mid-October as his new release his work was chosen as the top album of the past year.

The musician has decided to hand the money over to the trust, in acknowledgment of the essential function grassroots venues fulfilled in his early career.

"As an artist would not have achieved my current career if it wasn't for all the shows I performed around the region, and further afield, when I was starting out," said Fender. "These locations are legendary, but they are in difficulty."

From early 2023 onward, more than 150 of these spaces have ceased operations – about 16 percent of the entire UK sector.

In the last year, top acts including the band Pulp, the group Coldplay, Katy Perry and Ed Sheeran have all aided the MVT in its attempts to help venues survive, by including a small levy to their ticket prices, which supports local stages.

He also participated, raising over £100k on his recent tour to help thirty-eight small stages across the UK.

The money helped spaces that were confronting imminent closure due to challenges caused by floods, fire incidents and bereavements, as well as regulatory hurdles, court cases and sound issues.

Additional spaces received funding support in improving facilities and gear that directly benefitted performers and audiences.

"The concept that money from concerts in large arenas supports the smaller venues, where it all starts for artists like me, is just logical," Fender has commented.

Fender is not the first artist to contribute his award prize money to charitable organizations.

Back when the band won the prize in the mid-90s for their record their work, lead singer the singer announced that the group would donate their prize money to the organization War Child.

That year, rapper and singer Ms Dynamite shared her prize between a few good causes, such as the NSPCC and a charity for Sickle Cell.

"Additionally, I gave a thousand pounds to Highgate Newtown, to their gymnastics program, because I trained in gymnastics when I was a child and they required better apparatus," Ms Dynamite told a publication.

Previously, Ezra Collective donated their funds to the community center that nurtured their band, alongside other local music groups.

Also the 1994 recipients they gave their winnings to a multiple sclerosis charity after a friend was diagnosed the condition.

"The victory was quite enough," said singer the singer. "The money was the cherry on top but we didn't need the bonus, because we had the honor. So our victory impacted another person's life."

Recently, the Music Venues Trust announced it had rescued two grassroots venues in that region, by bringing them into public stewardship.

The Joiners in Southampton and the other in the city were purchased under the community ownership initiative, which is supported by Arts Council England and music fans who purchase "ownership units" in the venues.
