Lando Norris Tops Oscar Piastri in Brazilian Practice Session
The British driver has outperformed Oscar Piastri at each of the last five race weekends.
The McLaren driver edged out team-mate and championship contender the Australian for the top spot in the final moments of practice at the Brazilian Grand Prix.
Norris, who grabbed the title advantage from his teammate by a single point after his victory in the Mexican Grand Prix a fortnight back, outpaced the Australian by 0.023 seconds.
Earlier in the session, Piastri had been the fastest McLaren driver during the running before sprint qualifying due at 6:30 PM GMT.
The Red Bull star, the only other driver in the points battle, lying with a 36-point deficit Norris, finished in 17th place as his team ran a different programme.
His teammate the Japanese driver was the sole competitor to have an incident, albeit lightly, when he lost control at corner four soon after starting.
Tsunoda slid over the exit kerbs before spinning across the gravel trap, and was blessed to get away with just a slight brush of the fence.
The Ferrari of the seven-time champion also lost it, at the conclusion of the practice, spinning around through the fast downhill Mergulho turn before the last turn on to the pit straight.
The veteran finished practice in 19th place, one place behind team-mate Charles Leclerc.
Norris and Piastri were far ahead of the other competitors, with Nico Hulkenberg's Sauber in third, 0.619 seconds slower than Piastri's pace.
The Aston Martin of Fernando Alonso was in fourth, with the Sauber of Bortoleto ahead of Mercedes' George Russell and the Alpine of Pierre Gasly and Williams' Sainz.
