The much-anticipated second season of the adult animated musical series Hazbin Hotel debuts on Prime Video soon, and audience theories has been intense.
The first season introduces a diverse group of personalities living within Hell and Heaven, sets them at odds with musical numbers detailing their conflicts, and builds heated competitions and emotional bonds that drive audience devotion.
The fandom's stated hopes for season 2 differ greatly, but certain threads emerge over and over: Will Angel Dust break free from Valentino? Might we learn more about the mysterious "deal" affecting Alastor the Radio Demon? Might certain characters' relationships evolve?
"Obviously, I don't produce the show with audience demands specifically in mind," the creator commented earlier this year. "However I feel like me being a fan of my own show means there's a lot of it just inherently. I also am eager for these things, and I want some of these things to occur, and obviously some of these things are meant to happen in the show!"
She says her big-picture plan is for five seasons of Hazbin Hotel. Future installments have already been green-lit by Prime Video and A24, which produce the series.
That might mean viewers have to be patient for some of the biggest payoffs — but they could be shocked at how quickly the new season progresses, and how much of what they're waiting for happens now.
"I believe people are going to be highly satisfied," the creator notes. "We get some firsts. I think we get some incredible disclosures, some really cool origin tales, and even just simple things, [like] I hope this character gets a song. […] We're going to hear much more singing from the characters we didn't get to hear before."
She's certainly aware of the guesses and hopes about season 2 — especially in the form of fan bingo cards.
"I've come across a couple people create a prediction grid about season 2," she says. "Naturally I won't share it, but I've actually done some of them, and nearly every one of them have almost a bingo. I thought, Oh, if you put this [event] in this spot, it would be a bingo. So that leads me to believe we do a lot [of what fans are waiting for in this season], because I was like, Oh, there's multiple potential bingos on this card. So that brings me joy."
Hazbin Hotel the second season premieres on Prime Video on October 29.
