Ever since the premiere of the fourth campaign, new Dungeon Master Brennan Mulligan has maintained audience suspense with extensive world-building, a colorful mix of personalities, and a exciting storyline featuring celestial beings, fiends, and malevolent powers expanding in power within the city.
Heads-up: Key plot points for the latest installment of this adventure follow below.
The Soldiers Table Introduced
The latest chapter ended with a major cliffhanger and revealed the first table of adventurers who will separate from the primary party to begin their independent quest, separate from the other two tables.
This warrior group consists of Teor Pridesire (played by Travis Willingham), the agile character (Laura), the strong-willed figure (Whitney), Wicander Halovar (the player), and the mysterious adventurer (Robbie Daymond).
Dividing the Cast
Given a large ensemble, it was obvious from the beginning that keeping everyone at the same party would be impossible.
Hence, the initial installments of this story serve as an Introduction, connecting the personal journeys before dividing into three separate parties: Warriors, Schemers, and Seekers.
What Defines the Soldiers Table
Per the DM, the Soldiers table is for adventurers who are drawn to a classically intense battle-oriented narrative style where diplomatic options are rare.
Initially, characters like the hesitant healer the cleric might seem unsuited, but the developments of the latest installment make it clear why these five characters are perfectly fit for the Soldiers table.
Reasons to Leave
To begin with, the group knows exactly where to head next after a violent initial meeting with the enemy group.
A former ally of the deceased character—whose passing initiated the story’s plot—used the enemy for his selfish purposes, entering the hidden lair, attacking Thimble, and taking all the powerful objects to dispose of.
The antagonist then paid off his obligations and fled to a secure base in the northern region, north of Dol-Makjar, with Teor’s brother hot on his heels.
Personal Motivations
Additionally, each member has a personal reason to leave the city the urban setting:
- The rogue, as Thjazi’s partner and trusted friend, wants retribution.
- Kattigan knows the region and advises that it is a dangerous environment.
- The warrior and Wicander, having disobeyed his family’s wishes to eliminate Teor and instead rescued him, have no safe haven.
- But, their status as prominent individuals in House Halovar could help the team reach places they normally couldn’t.
- Additionally, Teor vowed a eternal obligation to The savior for his salvation and will now go with him anywhere.
Fugitives
Finally, all of them are hunted by the rulers that rule the setting for a range of causes, making lingering locally dangerous:
- The agile adventurer and The character are known criminals.
- The strong figure and The healer betrayed the influential house and the army of fiends they are aligned with.
- The target is marked for death by the family.
This leaves them no alternative but to travel to the northern region in search of Casimir.
Upcoming Developments
From the latest episode’s follow-up content, we find out that the combat party will not appear next week, leaving the other eight participants to round up the Seekers and Strategists parties.
